I can't comment on Andy's links to levellers, etc, I've never used that particular brand, but have a word with Paul Holman (Turbulent as he's known), he can get hold of some cracking little levellers for around £30-£35. If you like to send me an email I'll give you Paul's email address.

Re: Hello A Few Starter Questions
You'll not go far wrong with a HiTec radio, Rich, mine does all I need and then some...there's stuff inside it I'll never be able to contemplate using. I paid £65 for mine second hand, money very well spent. Buy the complete outfit from SMC, at least you'll have it all in go that way. Although I use MMB servos, the HiTec ones are just as good, you'll have no problems with them.

Re: Hello A Few Starter Questions
Oh, for speed controllers, I use either MTroniks or Action Electronics ones..Action are very good, and they are repairable should you do something silly...yes, been there, done that!
Google Action Electronics, and contact Dave, he's a real gent and one of the few who care about his customers.

Re: Hello A Few Starter Questions
I'll agree on the rx, I have the four channel one and it is tiny, ideal for subs...saves you room in the wtc.
Don't know about the esc's, it's like everything I guess, down to personal preference in the end. I like the Action range and Andy obviously likes the MicroGyros ones...each to his own. Have an ask round Rich, get a few comments on both and then choose from there.
This will rattle Andy's cage, but a few years ago a chap called Ron Perrott used to make a leveller known as a SALCON(Submarine Automatic Level Controller)and they were brilliant...easy to use and set up, and they worked very well. I had one in my SLEC Patrick Henry, and that old girl would run with an inch of scope out of the water all day, or until the battery went flat. I'd have another one for the LA now if I could. They were really good levellers...I mourn their demise.

Re: Hello A Few Starter Questions
I have one of mike's levellers and I have to say I agree with Andy they are first rate, they even have a reverse function so that when you go astern the tail does not come out of the water,I was also informed that the new version will be adjustable from the TX.

Ron has, in his own words, 'a drawful of SALCON's'. He'd probably be happy to sell you one for your LA if you send him a nice email. However even Ron admits the latest generation of levellers are more than match for the SALCON, and they take up a lot less real estate.
Funnily enough,I just have emailed him...

If it's an Optic you can buy a 40Mhz module to replace the 35Mhz one...

Re: Hello A Few Starter Questions
I have Emailed the seller and told him that the unit is not for me ( I havent sent any payment as yet)I have offered him I would pay for hes ebay fees.
I have sent a email to Sussex models to ask when they will be getting the Tx in so I can get one of those, Also emailed mike for a leveller as their is no price and no way of paying on hes site.
Will buy the last few bits tomorrow when I get in from work.
Thanks for the quick replys about my blonde moment ( I thought when you said 27 - 40mhz that you could use the ones inbetween also. I some how completly didnt read it right and thought 35 would be fine..O well atleast I caught it when I did )
Thanks guys

Re: Hello A Few Starter Questions
Hi guys just thought I would give you an update, Well I may know the reason why you dont see many of the dragon shark sub's any were as they are really bad at customer service. IT is shocking. I have been trying to reach arkmodels to see if they got my payment ok and when would they start shipping? It has been 4 days and I havent heard any thing from them after 2 emails to try and find out when..... So I might have to get a refund from paypal as it seems they arnt interested after they get your money. I will wait till monday untill I do any thing ( that would be 1 week after payment)....
Thanks for reading

Re: Hello A Few Starter Questions
Hi guys just an update
Well I have E-mailed all of their know address and still no responce.I have bought from Japan and China many thimes in the past and never had this much aggro. I think I will be sending them one last E-mail stating if I dont hear from them in 24hrs I will contact paypal for a full refund.
The most annoying thing is when I was asking them for info/prices of items they were responding with in 12hrs, know they have my cash they seem like they just dont care!!
I think this is fair after 1 week on constant emails and no reply from them. Or do you think I am being a bit harsh?
Thanks Rich

Re: Hello A Few Starter Questions
I've never had much dealings with Ark Models, I did make an enquiry once about buying a boat from them, and I was inundated with emails and invoices and quotes...I only asked for a carriage cost quotation!
It does seem a bit iffy though for them not to have answered an email. I'd give them another 24 hours, and then email one more time asking for confirmation of your order and payment confirmation, plus an expected delivery date. Give them a further 24 hours to reply, then think about going to paypal.
Just my opinion, of course...

Re: Hello A Few Starter Questions
I know it is Chinese New Year is on 3rd Feb this year but it is the 7th today/8th in china so 4 days after they still celebrating?? I know they have a a few days were they do some differnt things, ie
Second Day of the New Year
The second day of the new year is usually for visiting the family of the wife if a couple is married. A large feast is also typically held on the second day of the new year.
Seventh Day of the New Year
The seventh day traditionally is known as the common man's birthday, the day when everyone grows one year older. It is also the day when tossed fish salad, yusheng, is eaten. People get together to toss the colourful salad and make wishes for continued wealth and prosperity.
15th Day of the New Year - Lantern Festival
The New Year celebrations ended on the 15th of the First Moon with the Lantern Festival. On the evening of that day, people carried lanterns into the streets to take part in a great parade. Young men would highlight the parade with a dragon dance. The dragon was made of bamboo, silk, and paper, and might stretch for more than hundred feet in length. The bobbing and weaving of the dragon was an impressive sight, and formed a fitting finish to the New Year festival.
Do they work inbetween?
