It is done...my poor flexible friend had had a good hammering this morning, and my new sub kit will be shortly on it's way. I'm fed up sitting about doing nothing, so fingers crossed my hands don't fail me again.

Thanks to Debbie and Andy Griggs at Models By Design for all their kind assistance.

For those of you who may be wondering what I've bought...here it is.
It's a Models By Design/ex Darnell/ British X craft kit, a nice easy build if I remember correctly (I have built two of them before, many years ago) and not too many flood holes and slots to open up.

Andy did me a good deal on the kit, which I was pleased with...thanks Andy and Debbie.

I knew you'd say that, mate...but I'm ready for it. Prospective son in law has got me a proper mask, and he's volunteered to cut the flood holes for me. Hopefully...problem solved.

    Thanks Geoff,

It's being made as we speak, so it shouldn't be too long arriving.

Andy doesn't supply the radio box any more, so I'm having one custom made for it...I've never been a great fan of tubes or cylinders, so I'm going back to what I know and understand with this one. (Pic below is of the box in my previous X craft, X22.)

    It is done... 21010

I am going a bit modern though..LiPo battery pack, brushless esc with a built in low voltage safety cut out, and I might even go as far as using a brushless motor.

Hi Richard look forward to seeing it being built brave men that sailed in the x craft

The reason i asked about boxes and tube WTC is i have bought a darnell p class sub second hand (i have posted pictures in the building logs) and i was thinking about using a box not a fan of undoing push rods and propshafts.
to remove the WTC from the sub and replace the lipo and refit the WTC back into in my uboat takes 10 mins thats on the bench not at the lake.

i do like the way Paul Cook has done his S class sub
any help richard would be great

thanks and all the best geof
