Edinburgh SubDay
The 5th annual Subday will be held by Edinburgh Model Boat Club on Sunday 24th July 2011 and members of all Clubs are invited. The venue will be Inverleith Pond and free sailing wil commence about 11.00am. Car parking for visitors will be via the Portgower Place entrance with space reserved for visitors with models. There will be the usual table display and a fun competition with prizes for the best performing skippers. Toilets and a cafe/gift shop are a short 10 min walk from the pond.

Re: Edinburgh SubDay
Edinburgh Model Boat Club sub day. Just a reminder that this is just a month away.
I know quite a few are going (me included). Contact Andrew G if you would like to go.
Very well worth it if you are not too far away or are up in Scotland on holiday etc.

Re: Edinburgh SubDay
No I'm sure that is no problem.
It is best that you contact Andrew G anyway to let him know you are coming - they are very hospitable!
Should I pm you his contact details?

Re: Edinburgh SubDay
Don't worry Richard - I've dug out my Brownie 127 (if you can remember what that is!) The results probably won't match Mark's but we'll give it a go. I'll make sure we have a suitable selection for posting.

I remember the Brownie 127 well Andrew...shows my age, I fear!
I'll be watching out for the pics...have a great time up there, fingers crossed the weather behaves itself.

Re: Edinburgh SubDay
Bright and sunny here today in Edinburgh - and the forecast is good for tomorrow as well.Keep your fingers crossed we are long overdue a SubDay with no rain. The Parks Dept have been raising water levels in the pond and the water was beautifully clear yesterday so here's to some good sailing.

Re: Edinburgh SubDay
A fantastic day! Thanks to everyone at Edinburgh Model Boat Club for a very friendly welcome and impressive organisation. We only got back last night after heading for the beach at North Berwick.
I will be uploading some more pictures and videos but a couple to start:
This is an excellent "HMS Storm" by Bill G, if I have it right.

Re: Edinburgh SubDay
Sunday’s event was blessed with great weather for once and we were fortunate to have approximately 45 submarines on display. Many of these took to the water during the day either free-sailing or competing in the timed run-and-dive competition. Entrants came from far and wide – Lancashire to Montrose - and I would like to thank all of those people who travelled so far to make it such a great day. It was a pleasure to see you all. Throughout the day there were a large number of spectators and many of them were asking particularly taxing questions and seemed very knowledgeable about Scotland’s involvement with submarines – particularly the ‘K’ class.
I also counted a further 40 models ranging from sub-hunters to fast electrics so there was a fair amount going on all day. Thanks too to all the helpers who gave of their time and to the City of Edinburgh Parks Dept for allowing parking, washing the walkways and doing their best to give us an adequate depth of water.
A few pictures below.
