We have made these changes because of the positive aspects of Internet technology i.e we can now do things for free that used to cost a lot of money (e.g magazine publishing) We want to continue our AMS membership and COMMUNITY by means other than meetings and magazines.
We have an existing AMS membership who know and trust one another and we wanted to continue this but we also wanted to extend that community - hence you can now join the AMS online - for free. All we ask is that you register your real name and address. This is covered by Data Protection legislation and we will not divulge it without your permission.
It is still very much a "work in progress" and we don't quite know how it will work out - that is the exciting thing about new technology!
One thing that might be nice in the future is if we can get new volunteers and maybe even vote on-line. The AMS has always been a democratic organisation but in recent years not enough people have been physically turning up to allow this to work. Maybe doing things online will make this work better?
We will probably be using the Forum in future to communicate with members rather than emails. It also means that the AMS is now a truly global organisation run by and for model submarine enthusiasts from all over the World. (There is no UK in our name!)

Don't worry if you don't want to join the AMS, you are still very welcome to be a Guest on our Forum and also post if you register as a Forum user. You can register any Forum username providing it's not offensive and we will not terminate your account if you choose not to post. Should you then decide that you would like to join the AMS you can do so using the link to our membership form on the AMS website.
So hopefully something for everyone (Assuming that you are interested in Model Submarines, that is!)
